DA: Woodmere Man Admits to Stealing From Temple

A Woodmere man who was the treasurer at Congregation Aish Kodesh has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $634,000 from the temple, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced on Friday. Isaac Zucker, 49, pleaded guilty Friday morning to second-degree grand larceny. He faces up to seven years in prison at his April 9 sentencing.

Huntington Station Man Arrested for Threatening Town Employee

Suffolk County Police on Saturday arrested a man for making threats over a parking ticket. According to police, Robert Murphy was at Huntington Town Hall on Main Street on Wednesday when he yelled at and threatened a female town employee. Following an investigation, a .45-cal. rifle was removed from his home on Hazard Avenue in Huntington Station. Murphy, 55, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for evaluation and released. Upon release, Second Squad detectives charged Murphy with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony. He will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.

NFL Hopeful Remains Behind Bars

A former North Babylon High School football star remains behind bars and is hopeful to make bail in time to take part in a New York Jets scouting combine early next month. On Thursday, bail for Jason Gwaltney was set at $75,000 following his alleged role in a Huntington home invasion in January. According to police, three armed men entered a home on Leigh Street in Huntington in the early morning hours of January 22 through an unlocked door at approximately 1:20 a.m. The intruders threatened five residents and demanded cash. Also arrested with Gwaltney, who is currently living in Brentwood: Jaquese Jones, 18, of Bay Shore; Nouvelle Lucas, 17, of Wyandanch; Demetrius Edwards, 19, of Wyandanch; and Tahjiea Carpenter, 17, of Huntington.

Former New Hyde Park Football Player Spared Jail Time

Former New Hyde Memorial football player and mob informant was spared jail time on alleged drug charges by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn on Friday. Gaetano “Guy” Fatato avoided jail time but was fined $15,000, according to Newsday. Fatato had pled guilty in 2004 to charges that included conspiracy to distribute methamphetamines. He also was convicted on charges of drugs, forgery and racketeering. Fatato played football at Division I Bowling Green and played at the college level for Nassau Community College and LIU Post.

Two Charged for Assault Outside Glen Cove Restaurant

Two men face felony assault charges for allegedly attacking another man outside Restaurante Morazan in the early morning hours of Jan. 6, according to the Glen Cove Police Department. The 32-year-old victim told police he was leaving the restaurant at around 1 a.m. when one of the men punched him in the face and another slashed his left wrist. Police arrested the two men Jan. 20 and charged them each with second-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a weapon. They are being held at Nassau County Correctional Center in lieu of $11,000 and $15,000 bail.

Police: Lewd Act in Village of Kensington

A Port Washington man was charged with public lewdness on Monday for an incident that took place in Kensington, a village in Great Neck last year. Nassau County police say that on Sept. 21, a 49-year-old woman was in front of her Arleigh Road residence in Kensington when Noor El Tahawy, 24, of Revere Road in Port Washington, pulled up in a Silver 2005 Toyota and asked for directions. According to police, Tahawy then pointed to his private parts and began performing a lewd act before driving away.
