Crimes Nearby: Cops Accuse Man as Foot Fondler

The following significant crimes reported around the Plainview area over the last week by law-enforcement agencies. An arrest is merely an accusation; it does not imply guilt.

Farmingdale:

A Massapequa man who police said approached teens near and touching their feet in an inappropriate manner has been arrested.

Carlos Sanchez, 28, was charged Thursday with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The first incident occurred Monday when two female teens told cops that a man approached them in Lincoln Street park and began to talk to them. He then allegedlyand wouldn't let go.

Shew was eventually able to free herself and Sanchez fled in a tan Toyota Camry, police said.

On Tuesday, he allegedly approached three girls, all under the age of 16, who were walking home from school and removed one of their shoes. He looked at the girls foot and then replaced the shoe. He then asked the teens if they wanted a foot massage, according to police. 

Police released a photo taken during one of the incidents, and he was arrested with the help of Crimestoppers, police said.

A man who was driving a BMW more than 100 mph on the Southern State Parkway was charged with DWI, state police said.

Massapequa

A Deer Park man was charged with DWI after being stopped for driving over 100 mph on the Southern State Parkway.

Ray Robinson, 23, of Deer Park, was eastbound on the Parkway and was stopped near the exit for the Bethpage Parkway after driving at 106 mph in a 55 mph zone at 4:41 a.m. Sunday, police said.

A trooper smelled alcohol in the car and Robinson failed sobriety tests, state police said. His blood alcohol content was .15 percent, almost twice the legal limit of .08 percent, according to police.

Robinson was charged with DWI and traffic violations.

Bellmore

A Jamaica resident was charged in Bellmore on Feb. 1 with counterfeiting.

Ju Lin, 39, of Jamaica, was arrested on Merrick Road and charged with second-degree counterfeiting and first-degree manufacture or sale of an unauthorized recording or performance.

Huntington

A man stole a purse from a South Huntington store last month after asking for a job at the location.

Police say the suspect asked to use the restroom before stealing an employee's pocketbook containing credit cards and $400 in cash at the Lighting Gallery, located at 326 E. Jericho Turnpike at about 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 3.

The thief was wearing a gray overcoat, dress pants, button up shirt, scarf and a ski cap while carrying a black duffel bag, according to .

Northport

Northport police said Kelly A. Karman, 42, of Centerport was arrested on Feb. 6 and charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing a diamond engagement ring from a house on Church Street in October.

West Babylon

Suffolk police are hunting for a man who robbed the Roslyn Savings Bank branch in West Babylon Saturday morning.

According to police the man entered the bank at 653 West Montauk Highway at 9:55 a.m. and began shouting demands for money. He approached a teller who gave him cash from the drawer.

The suspect is described as a white male with blue eyes, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black jacket, a gray hooded-sweatshirt with the hood on, a black ski mask, black pants and white sneakers.
