Former New York Jet Marty Lyons will receive the David Award next week at the Crest Hollow Country Club. The former defensive tackle will be recognized on Jan. 19 as a "Renaissance Man" for his work to benefit children through his long-running Marty Lyons Foundation.

"I am deeply gratified to receive [The David Award], but if it were not for the hundreds of volunteers and generous supporters of the foundation it would not have been successful on fulfilling its mission," said Lyons.

Eight David Award honorees in 2012 have demonstrated dedication to their communities via business, academics and humanitarian work.
