Injured Worker Recovering From Fall

Contractor fell from ladder at Plainview water plant; injuries not life threatening.

A private contractor performing work for the is recovering with non-life threatening injuries after falling about 20 feet from a ladder, authorities confirmed.

The worker while working to install venting devices at the water tank at Plainview's Plant No. 5 on Tuesday, Water District Commissioner said.

"He's going to be OK, thank God," Bader said Wednesday.

Because the victim suffered back and neck injuries, by Nassau County Police to Nassau University Medical Center's trauma unit.

However, the worker suffered an aggravated vertebrae in his back. "He was very lucky," Bader said, adding that the man fell to soft ground and may have broken his fall on the ladder as he dropped.

The unidentified man was hired as an independent contractor for part of the extensive ongoing work at Plainview's water facilities. Bader said he was uncertain when the man would be released from the hospital.

Plainview's Plant No. 5 off Round Swamp Road is a well and storage facility that produces about 40 percent of the district's water. The Water District is implementing a series of significant , Bader said.

Independent contractors have been hired to perform certain aspects of the work.
