Mangano Addresses Plainview Chamber

Reveals highlights of new proposed budget, discusses small business, job growth.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano introduced members of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce to his newly minted county budget proposal this week.

Mangano, addressing the Chamber's Annual Kickoff Breakfast at the Holiday Inn in Plainview, presented a slideshow that offered his vision of the county's spending plan. Mangano's proposal came out only the day before Wednesday's breakfast.

About 70 people attended the event, hosted by Chamberand representing a dynamic assortment of community leaders.

During his presention, Mangano highlighted efforts to maintain taxes at reasonable rates, promote and support small business and the local economy and promote job growth in Nassau.

The breakfast was the first in a series of key community events to be sponsored by the Chamber over the next few weeks. The Chamber has grown to nearly 135 members. Organizers say the community seems to have endorsed the Chamber as a driving force for local business representation.

Among the upcoming events are: 

  • Oct. 7: The Chamber will host its first annual Craft & Gift Fair in the parking lot of the POB Library. This event will be fun for the entire family and will also offer opportunities for local business to promote their product and/or services.
  • Oct. 17: The Chamber will host the Third Annual “Meet the Candidates” Breakfast at 7:45 a.m. at the Marriott Residence Inn in Plainview.  Audience members will be able to ask questions of candidates from both parties running for office.
