Plainview Cub Scouts show their skills in Pinewood Derby Races
These kids know how to work fast:
The young people of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Cub Scout Pack 423 held their annual Pinewood Derby Races on Saturday Feb. 11.
The annual event challenges the young people to make their own "cars" and then compete to see which ones are the fastest.
The event is sanctioned by the Boy Scouts of America. It involves making the cars from wood, usually from kits containing a block of pine, plastic wheels and pins that serve as axles.
Plainview-Old Bethpage top 6 finishers are pictured here.

I never could do this. But I still try to build model airplanes from plastic kits, and mess those up, too. These kids are to be congratulated!

You can't beat scouting for mixing fun and learning. Events like the Pinewood Derby make lasting memories and build character along with cars.

Good to see Jason Rosenberg volunteering his time with the Cub Scouts. I remember when Jason was one of the Boy Scouts in Plainview Troop 13.
