PJC to Host Cyber-Bullying Program

Sisterhood plans in-depth presentation for the community about the dangers of threats to children on the internet.

Imagine growing up with a playground stalked by bullies of all types and where recess never ends?

For some victims and bullies, that's the internet.

The Sisterhood of the wants to do something about it. They're planning a major anti-bullying program for Sunday, Feb. 12 to address the complex issue and raise awareness of its dangers.

PJC members invite the entire community's parents and children to the 90-program, which runs from 9:30-11 a.m. Sunday.

The program contends that 160,000 students miss school each day because of fear of bullying, a direct result of threats and innuendos that appear on common internet sites such as Facebook.

The program reports that is a national epidemic that is threatening the ability of children to learn in school.

Guest speakers for the session are and , both nationally recognized experts on cyber-bullying and co-authors of "Bully Frog," and "The Forlorn Frog’s Fantastic Valentine’s Day," award-winning children's books on the subject. The program is hosted by of the Plainview Jewish Center, who also serves as educational consultant for the Bully Frog program.

The event is free and open to the public. Coffee and bagels will be served.
