Plainview Chamber Announces October Craft Fair

Business leaders organizing big craft event at Plainview Library in the fall.

The has announced plans for its first-ever community craft fair, to be held Oct. 7.

"The whole idea is for the Chamber to put something together for the community and to have a family fun day," said Bryan Trugman, the Chamber's 2nd Vice President.

"We want to promote the community," said Chamber President Gary Epstein. "This is a great way to do that."

The Chamber is working in conjunction with the Library to promote the event. Organizers are working with local police and fire department authorities to close off streets and provide free parking in the immediate area.

The craft fair, to be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (rain or shine) on Oct. 7, will be professionally run by Nassau County Craft Shows, which will serve to book the exhibitors.

There will food and live entertainment provided by various musical acts and musicians from . The Town of Oyster Bay is providing a show mobile for the event. Inflatable rides for kids are also part of the festivities, organizers said.

The Chamber has also set its annual kick-off meeting for Sept. 19. Details will follow. The Chamber's guest speaker will be County Executive Edward P. Mangano.
