Plainview Fire Department Kicks Off Fund Drive

Annual appeal helps the department maintain its training and maintenance programs.

The Plainview Volunteer Fire Department has launched its 2012 Fund Drive and Plainview-Old Bethpage residents will be receiving a brochure in the mail soon.

Chief Craig Robinson said the brochures have been mailed and request donations to help support the round-the-clock service provided by the Plainview Fire Department.

"The men and women of the PFD are highly trained, extremely motivated, well educated, and focused on their core mission; protecting the Plainview-Old Bethpage Community," Robinson said. "For over 85 years, your volunteers have bravely and successfully confronted the wide array of emergencies that our neighborhood challenges us."

Plainview's volunteer force conducts regular training drills and is well known for providing rapid assistance to those in need, firefighters say.

"We have never received a paycheck, never asked for a raise, and have always answered your call for assistance," Robinson said, in requesting donations to continue the department's programs and training initiatives.

Robinson said he is honored to serve as chief in 2012. "In the past, you have been most generous, and [we] are asking for your support once again," he said.

Firefighters can be contacted directly in an emergency at (516) 938-2727 or by dialing 911.
