Plainview Lends a Hand to Suffolk Water Authority

Plainview Water District personnel recently demonstrated the Wachs Valve Exerciser – a mounted, industry-standard valve exerciser designed to transport all valve maintenance and vacuum tools needed in the field –to members of the Suffolk County Water Authority.

“The Plainview Water District has always been proactive in its approach to system operation and maintenance,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Joel Kessler.  “This valve exerciser has saved the district valuable time and thousands of dollars in the past year, and it was an honor to share our knowledge of the latest technology to our friends in Suffolk County.”

Confronted with the prospect of replacing numerous valves thought to be inoperable based on previous manual attempts, the district began researching alternatives to the expensive and time consuming replacement of these valves.

Within a few months the valve exerciser had paid for itself by freeing up the frozen valves and thereby saving costs on replacement valves, district officials said. Plainview's recent equipment demonstration was successful as the problem valve was exercised and repaired, saving the Suffolk County Water Authority thousands of dollars on a replacement valve.
