Valentine's Shape-Up Clock Is Ticking

Exercise experts say there's still time to lose a couple of pounds.

The clock is ticking: If you want to get into shape to fit into that slinky Valentine's dress, there's still time. But not a lot.

Experts at and said people looking to shed a pound or two can do it by Feb.14 through exercise and diet.

"One of the things is to eat small meals throughout the day so your body doesn’t store it as fat," Rafael Gomez,  chief instructor at MAX Fitness said. "They need to work out. A cardio kick class combined with strength training to tone muscles is helpful. And it's definitely doing something for the midsection.

"Another thing is eating about six small meals and nothing heavy at night. Breakfast is a critical part of the plan."

At PTI, the advice was similar. "The most is they could lose 3 pounds in a week, said Vinny, who declined to give his last name. "So it all depends on the person. There’s no generic way. There’s no magic pill. Something like that needs to take place over time.

"If they just want to feel a little better but if you’re looking to lose 10 pounds, it isn't going to happen," the manager said. "Basically you want to make sure you’re drinking a lot of water, eating properly and being active. Don’t just sit around on the couch."
