TODAY's 5: Talented Plainview singing groups show off their talents tonight.
The weekend has arrived and summer seems around the corner. There is music in the air in Plainview, as well: Today's 5: 1. There are two shows tonight at Plainview JFK featuring the amazing talents of Plainview singing clubs. It's a "Night of A Capella." Friday: Performances at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. 2. The Plainview Jewish Center hosts its "Shabbat Alive" Musical Service featuring their Klezmer Band at Friday night's service. 7 p.m.; open to the public with reception to follow. 3. 36 students inducted in National Art Honor Society.
Holy Trinity Diocesan High School inducted 36 students into the National Art Honor Society on April 16. The four teachers in Holy Trinity’s Art department cover skills such as drawing, painting, advertising, fashion design, ceramics, architecture and graphic design, including a college drawing course that will earn students 3 college credits. The National Art Education Association began the National Art Honor Society in 1978 to inspire and recognizi those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. One of Plainview's two Burger King restaurants, a Plainview fast-food institution on our eastern side of Old Country Road, shut its doors Sunday. The Burger King at 1082 Old Country Road near the Plainview Diner was open Saturday but closed on Sunday. A sign on the door made mention of an issue with its lease.
