Acclaimed French Film, Register for 'Seniorrobics" at Library
Here are the big events and issues in and around Plainview today: Wednesday Aug. 28, 2013.
1. The Plainview Library has two screenings Wednesday of "Amour," a 2012 French-language drama about an older couple, their daughter far away, and dealing with a crippling illness. Free showings at 3 and 7:30 p.m.
2. Meanwhile at the library, you can register all day for "Seniorrobics." First class is Thursday Oct. 3; 10 classes for $40. Details here.
3. Plainview Schools open a week from today for classes. You can see the school-year schedule here. The first week of school is a short one. Students have classes on Wednesday, then are off for Rosh Hashanah Thursday and Friday.
4. We need your events: If your civic group or synagogue is planning a public event, there's no easier way to get the word out on our "Boards." Click here for the free exposure. We often highlight these events in this column.
5. Today's weather: Mostly cloudy, chance of isolated thunderstorms. Thursday and Friday looking really good.
