Garden Club to Meet; School-year Schedule Online
Here are the big events and issues in and around Plainview today: Tuesday Aug. 27, 2013.
1. The Plainview-Hicksville Garden Club meets Tuesday at the Plainview Library. With the fall harvest approaching, there should be much to talk about.
2. Late Monday we wrote about a Wyandanch man who survived after he was struck by a freight train by the Hicksville station. Read it here.
3. Plainview Schools open a week from Wednesday for classes. You can see the school-year schedule here. The first week of school is a short one. Students have classes on Wednesday, then are off for Rosh Hashanah Thursday and Friday.
4. If your civic group or synagogue is planning a public event, there's no easier way to get the word out on our "Boards." Click here for the free exposure.
5. Today's weather: Mostly cloudy, chance of thunderstorms.
