Dog Run Park

Quiet spot where Spot is welcome

Old Bethpage Village Restoration has more to offer the community than just its recreated 19th century village.

Dog Run Park is a county operated dog park located on the grounds of the Village Restoration.

The dog run's parking lot is near the front entrance, after the turn onto the property.

Two adjoining dog runs accommodates both small and large dogs. One run is specifically marked with a sign for small dogs, 30 pounds and under.  The other run is set aside for large dogs, 30 pounds and over. The two runs are separated by a fence and gate.

Christina Butler decided to finally check out the dog park with her dog because she, “Drives by the run all the time.”  Sassy, her two-year-old Shih Tzu, needs an opportunity “to get social with other dogs.”

When asked why she comes to this particular dog run, Nadia Didonato replied, “It’s shaded, relaxing and free.” She brings her dog Madison, a chocolate Lab, to the park from Farmingdale, where they live.  “It’s the only dog run near Farmingdale.”

Linda Anton-Caust, owner of a yellow labrador retriever, believes that “the run is underutilized and should be kept open later during the week.”

All three women agreed that the park is very quiet and a very enjoyable place to bring their dogs.

Hours posted on sign at the front gate:

  • Monday through Friday - 8am to 4:30pm
  • Saturday - 8am to 5:30pm
  • Sunday - 9:30am to 5:30pm

The dog park is closed when the parking area is too wet. There are no fees.
