The girls received donations and individual solicitations and were able to donate to our military troops over 1 million cookies (about 45,000 boxes.) This was made possible by the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Operation Cookie program, which is now in its fifth year.
The Girl Scouts helped to transport the cookies from their organization’s truck to a special DHL truck that would then transport the cookies to John F. Kennedy Airport. A police escort accompanied the cookies to JFK.

DHL donated flights to get the cookies to our troops overseas, which were sent out on April 19. A ceremony at the Girl Scouts Council in Garden City was also held. The Nassau County Police Department, Port Authority, MTA, Garden City Police, political leaders and dignitaries were also present for the ceremony.
Six different varieties of Girl Scout Cookies were sent. The first batch of cookies was scheduled to arrive in Bahrain on May 11. The cookies were distributed to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, as well as to installations and hospitals throughout the Middle East.
