Grab and Go: Weekend of April 1-3

Kids Planner

The upcoming weekend offers a variety of venues to entertain the kids both in Plainview and places a short drive away.  You can see an ice skating show at the Coliseum, or head over to Hofstra where it’s Irish Family fun Day. The Planting Fields Arboretum hosts a breakfast with Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley.

2.       Irish Family Fun Day

Where/When: Hofstra University, Hempstead Tpke., Hempstead NY, 516-463-6182, http://www.hofsra.edu/athletics , Saturday April 2, @ 12: p.m.- 4: 30 P.m.

Why Go: Students and families can learn about Irish arts and crafts, Gaelic sports, traditional music, step dancing and the Irish language.

Pricing: $5.00 per family

3.       Breakfast with Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley

Where/When: Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, Planting Fields Rd., Oyster Bay, NY 516-922-8682, http://plantingfields.org , Sunday April 3 @ 9-11 a.m.

Why Go: Learn about the life of Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley while enjoying a frontierland breakfast during a time when cowboys and Indians were real. Actors playing roles. Reserve.

Pricing: $20 nonmember adults, $10 nonmember children. Younger than 3 free.

4.       Family Program

Where/When: , 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview NY,  516-938-0077, Friday April 1, @ 4:15-5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Children in grades 2 and up can decorate a flower pot that has a pen sticking out that looks like a flower blooming.

Buddy Game Day

Where/When: Plainview Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview NY, 516-938-0077, April 3, 2-2:45 p.m

Why Go: For Grades K-4, enjoy an afternoon of  fun board games with volunteers from grades 5-12. Refreshments served.
