It’s almost time for Passover: This weekend the Mid Island Y has “Matzah Fun” planned for kids with special needs. Also for the weekend, the family can walk the woods together at the Bailey Arboretum, or have a family fishing day at Belmont Park. There’s an exhibit at the Long Island Children’s Museum and there are Junior Chef courses’ being offered for kids ages 4-7 in Oyster Bay.

3. Art Exhibit: Swirls, Waves and Puzzles

Why Go: See an exhibit that explores the connections between abstract paintings from artist Alli Berman’s, with interactive puzzle art. Open to children with an adult during museum hours.

4. Junior Chefs Club
Where/When: What’s Cooking, 30 East Main Street, Oyster Bay, 516-922-2665. http://whatscookingny.com., occurs first Thursday of every month @ 4-5:15 p.m. through November 1. Next on April 7.
Why Go: Could your child be the next super foodtv star. Introduce them to cooking at this 10 week session for children ages 4-7 who learn how to make simple recipes and become comfortable in a cooking environment. Each child will get a recipe book with dishes created in class.
Pricing: $375 for 10 weeks, fee pro-rated for remaining classes.
5. Spring Family Freshwater Fishing Festival

Why Go: Bring the family to a fun filled Spring Family Fishing festival. Activities include open fishing, fishing instruction, fly casting demonstrations and more. NYSDEC also stocks Belmont Lake with over 1,000 trout for the event. Children’s activities also include: inflatable slide, environmental exhibits, and “Spring Fling” casting contest
