Kids Weekend Planner

It’s the first full weekend of summer and school is over. There is a lot to do to keep the kids happy, both indoors and out.

1.      Kung Fu Panda 2

       2. Splish Splash

Where/When: 2549 Splish Splash Drive, Calverton 631-727-3600, open daily through Sept. 5 @ 100 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Why Go: Voted one of the best water parks in America by the Travel Channel, Splish Splash has 96 acres of fun for the entire family. The park offers a variety of water-based activities for all ages and all swim levels. Height restrictions are posted for all attractions and enforced.

Pricing: General Admission $38, under 48 inches $29, under 2 free. Parking $12 per car. Now through June 30 stop in your local PC Richard & Son store for $6 off coupon.

3.       Muttville Canine Show

Where/When: Long Island Game Farm Wildlife Park and Zoo, Chapman Boulevard (LIE exit 70) Manorville, 631-878-6644, www.longislandgamefarm.com

Why Go: Go see Johnny Peers, a former clown with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus perform a variety of tricks with his 15 dogs, most who have been rescued from shelters.

Pricing: $18 plus tax adults, $16 ages-3-11 and seniors.

 

4.    Ladybug Girl Event

Where/When: Book Revue, 313 New York Ave., Huntington, 631-271-1442, Saturday June 25, @ 11 a.m.

Why Go: A story time event with children’s character, The Lady Bug Girl who comes to life with her trusty sidekick Bingo the dog, stories will be read and make crafts. Come dressed like a butterfly or ladybug, two signed copies of the book will be raffled off.

Pricing: free, any signed books must be purchased.

5.  Family Fun Night

Where/When: Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, Planting Fields Road, Oyster Bay, 516-922-8678, Friday June 24 @ 6-8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner to the garden for a night of fun, with a mechanical bull-ride, DJ, bocce, horseshoes and more.
