It’s a three day weekend and schools are winding down. There are some fun things going on to help keep the kids happy at the unofficial start of summer weekend.
1. Brooklyn Film Festival Kids Film Fest: 2010 Festival Replay

Why Go: Children ages 3 and up and watch films from the 2010 Brooklyn Film Festivals’ kidsfilmfest. Some of the films include “Love Bug” and “Electric Car” and “Don’t let a Pigeon Drive the Bus”

2. Grossology
Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Ave., East Garden City, 516-224-5800, licm.org., Friday May 27 through Sept. 4., during regular museum hours
Why Go: Children can explore 17 interactive stations designed to teach you the good, the bad, and the ugly about runny noses, body odor and much more. You can walk through giant noses, play gas attack pinball to discover which foods cause gas or learn about the role the brain plays when vomiting.
Pricing: $10, $9.00 for seniors
3. Sheep to Shawl and Music, Too
Where/When: Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, 516-572-8400, Saturday, Sunday and Monday May 28-May 30 @ 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Why Go: There will be sheep shearing, wool spinning, dance contests and fiddle music. Children can play 19th century children’s games, craft demonstrations and more.
Pricing: $10 for adults, $7.00 ages 5-12 and adults over 60
4. Theater: The Pirates of Treasure Island
Where/When: Arena Players Second Stage, 296 rt. 109, East Farmingdale NY, Saturday and Sunday @ 1 p.m.
Why Go: Travel along with and become part of Long John Silver’s pirates and Captain Smollet’s crew as they battle storms, jungles, ghosts and each other for the hidden treasure.
Pricing: $10, under 3 free
5. New York Party Zone
Where/When: 1270 Broadhollow Rd., Farmingdale, 694-0079, daily from noon to 2 p.m., NYpartyzone.com., check website for other available times
Why Go: Climb the 30 foot high volcano climbing wall, or ride the inflatable mechanical bull which rolls instead of bucks, for the younger crowd there’s toddle town big top.
Pricing: $10 weekday play, $15 other times, $5 extra for mechanical bull, parents free
