Happy Easter Plainview!

Church and family are dominant themes for today's Christian celebration.

Today is Easter Sunday, the day Christians believe that the crucified Jesus of Nazareth rose from the dead around 33 AD and appeared to his disciples. The joyous event, told in the Canonical Gospels, will be celebrated at all of Plainview's churches today and in homes throughout the community.

All Plainview-area Christian churches have multiple services today. See our events calendar for listings here.

Most area businesses are open for part of the day, but many will close early, including supermarkets. To find a local business and its phone number, see our directory of local businesses here.

Thank you ~ Plainview Patch, for respecting the Holy day ~ Easter ~ celebrated today by many residents of Plainview, Nassau County and indeed, Long Island! It is certainly more than Newsday could find in their hearts to do.... Money is more important, it will always take precedent over a Catholic holy day. a disappointment, but didn't really expect anything else. Two ads appeared, mentioning Easter, but that figures, doesn't it. How much did they get from King Kullen for a full page ad.... more than thirty pieces of silver? I will pray for them and their editors........
