The Plainview-area Interfaith Council is looking for volunteers to aid in their "Interfaith Helping Hands" gathering which congregates every-other month.
Volunteers work together to assemble over 500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the Mary Brennan Kitchen INN in Hempstead which works towards serving the hungry and homeless on Long Island.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to do something significant for those in need and the rewards are great," said Linda Curro, Pastoral Associate of St. Pius X Parish in Plainview.
"Not only do we get to know our neighbors from the surrounding POB houses of worship but we accomplish a great deal and teach our children how to give back," said Curro.
Each meeting is sponsored by donations from various outreach groups. This month's sponsor is the Rosary Society of St. Pius X.
