New Art Exhibit at RXR Realty in Woodbury

Woodbury-based RXR Realty recently installed a new exhibit of works by artists from Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, or FREE. RXR had commissioned for permanent display the artwork by individuals with differing-abilities.

At the exhibit's July 2 opening, attendees included principals from RXR and FREE as well as Leg. Judy Jacobs, D-Woodbury, and Assemb. Chuck Lavine, D-Glen Cove. 

“I am speechless over the compassion of RXR and the outstanding abilities of the individuals who participated,” said Ed Regensburg, FREE's director of art therapy. 

“It has long been known that there is a connection between creativity and feeling well, and there has always been a special place in history for those souls who could express beauty and bring it into our world," he added. "When the artistic process is facilitated through the eyes and hands of a professional art psychotherapist, new found energy and functional skills are not only harnessed but actually intensely focused.”   

Founded in 1977,  Old Bethpage-based FREE supports more than 3,500 individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness and traumatic brain injury. The organization aims to help individuals of all abilities realize their full potential. 

Jacobs urged residents to stop by to view the artwork, which is showcased in the lower level of the building located at 1000 Woodbury Road in Woodbury. 

"It truly will enrich your day,” Jacobs said.
