Patio Players Announce Auditions for 'The Music Man'

Plainview Jewish Center to present Broadway classic in March; open casting call set for Monday and Wednesday night.

Plainview's Patio Players are holding auditions beginning Monday night for their spring musical, the timeless Broadway classic: "The Music Man."

Auditions are scheduled for Monday Nov. 12 and Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Plainview Jewish Center, 95 Floral Drive in Plainview. All roles are open; newcomers are welcome.

The troupe asks that those trying out prepare a show tune and to bring along  sheet music if you can.

"Sides" will be provided for readings.

Meredith Wilson's classic about a traveling salesman's journey through a small Iowa town contains some of the most infectious music ever written for the stage. The musical requires a large cast, including young people. There are numerous speaking and singing roles to fill.

The troupe works with actors of all levels of abilities and experience. Auditions are open to all.

Patio Players, a division of the PJC's Men's Club, has a long history in Plainview and has produced successful Broadway-style musicals over the past two years, including "Fiorello" in 2011 and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" in 2012.

Performance dates are scheduled for March 16 and 17 and March 23 and 24. Rehearsal schedules are flexible until March.
