Plainview Animal Rescue Group to Hold Dog Walk in Wantagh

Fourth annual event slated for Oct. 6 at Forest City Community Park.

A Plainview animal rescue organization will hold its fourth annual Let the Paws Do the Walkin' Dog Walk and Park Fair on Oct. 6 at Forest City Community Park in Wantagh.

Organizers for Plainview-based Forgotten Friends of Long Island (FFLI)  are seeking vendors and sponsors for the Oct. 6 event aimed at benefiting the organization’s goal of having an adoption center for their dogs.

Milena Apath, foster/rescue coordinator for FFLI, said they rescue many dogs but need to constantly try and acquire foster homes in order for them to have a warm, loving place to rehabilitate following their shelter stay. FFLI also recues cats and has two cat adoption centers.

“Our mission is to rescue the very neediest animals in our municipal shelters- the animals with broken bones, the elderly, the sick, weak, the ones who have been in cages the longest and those in danger of being euthanized,” Apath said.

The Oct. 6 dog walk at Forest City Community Park is scheduled to last from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature activities for children, adults and dogs along with a blessing of the dogs. In the event of rain, the walk will take place the following day at the same time. For further information, click here
