Plainview Gets Ready for Relay for Life

Purple ribbons spotted around the community are serving as reminders that Plainview’s Relay for Life event it just around the corner.

The event is scheduled for June 14 at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School, located at Central Park Road at Southern Parkway, and begins at 5 p.m.

That’s when team members will camp out on the grounds, enjoying music, food, fun, entertainment and activities while building camaraderie with other participants. Money is raised through team commitment fees and an individual goal of $100 in donations secured from family, friends, companies or corporations.

The event aims to honor cancer survivors, remember those lost, and raise funds and awareness to fight cancer

As of Wednesday, 27 teams and 69 participants have raised $11,492.92

Organizers say Thursday is the $100 T-Shirt Deadline, which helps raise additional funds.
