"Little Docs" Blood Drive Today at Mattlin School

This is a chance to help kids learn the value of giving blood.

The first day of March is expected to warm gradually. You have options around town, and the first of those could help save a life.

1. Today and tonight, you can take part in a great program that teaches young people the importance of blood donations. Between 3:30 and 9:30 p.m. at the , 5th graders will  wear scrubs to greet donors, serve refreshments and write thank you notes to those who gave. Tehe event is in the cafeteria and open to all.

2. The , is the site for a meeting of the AAII Stock Traders group, where people exchange ideas and investment strategies about the markets. The session is open to the public and starts at 1 p.m.

3. A is being offered at the Tuesday night. The five-week course teaches the basics to earn a boating license. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost: $90.

4. The event itself, at the , isn't until Sunday, but Wednesday is the deadline to RSVP for a not-to-be-missed program about the Holocaust. Gisele Warshawsky, one of “The Hidden Children,” will speak at a brunch about her experiences as a child hidden during the Holocaust. Please RSVP to (516) 935-5454.
