UPDATE: Power Outages Impacting Plainview Area

Crews restore power in most Plainview locations; storm continues its approach from west to east.

High winds in advance of a significant storm system caused scattered power outages in the Plainview area but most customers have had their electricity restored.

LIPA reported about 100 customers without power in mid-afternoon. The impacted area ran along South Oyster Bay Road and north/south in the vicinity of Route 135. Some traffic lights along major roadways were darkened, residents said.

LIPA is now reporting crews have resolved most of those problems.

However, LIPA is reporting 80 current outages (at 5:15 p.m.) impacting about 1,800 customers Long Island wide.
