Rick Lewis named CEO of Y JCC

Leader has area roots in Plainview and Syosset.

The Mid-Island Y Jewish Community Center is pleased to introduce Rick Lewis, as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective Feb. 19.

As a Plainview and Syosset resident since 1996 Rick is honored to return “home” and work alongside a community that has given so much to him and his family.

With nearly 30 years of experience at the Samuel Field Y, in the areas of camping, outreach, business, program development and most recently as the Associate Executive Director, Rick is dedicated to the JCC movement and believes deeply in the importance of the JCC as a hub of the community.

With that dedication comes a commitment to the growth and expansion of the Mid-Island Y JCC so that it can continue to be a place for people of all ages to gather, grow, celebrate and learn.

As the newly appointed CEO, his most immediate challenges will be to address security, continue the renovation of the building,  including the women’s locker room and work alongside staff and board members to generate additional funding for the remaining legs of the capital campaign.  While he acknowledges this is a large undertaking and results in some areas will not be immediate, he is committed to seeing it through.

To date, board and community members have donated an unprecedented 2 million dollars to aide in the revitalization of the Mid-Island Y JCC and most recently have generously provided a much needed bus fleet.  This new fleet will help in the transportation of  the agency’s children and seniors to and from activities at the JCC, around the community, and will allow for the expansion of services.
