Weather Alert: Second Heat Wave Striking Long Island

Plainview area weather will be in the 90s until Sunday. Cooling centers to open.

A second is about to strike Plainview and the rest of Long Island beginning Thursday and will be staying through the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to hit 86 on Thurday, 93 degrees on Friday, 90 degrees on Saturday and 89 degrees on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Even Monday will bring little relief, with temperatures predicted to be 89 degrees.

The Town of Oyster Bay will open the nearest area cooling center for those in need. It will be at the William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center, 28 Carl Street, Hicksville, (516) 797-7900.and will be open from 11-a.m.-5 p.m. Friday.
