"Music Under the Stars" featured performances by Broadway Tonite on Wednesday.

Broadway Tonite, a musical group featuring young performers who sing and dance to Broadway hits such as West Side Story and A Chorus Line, got rave reviews on Wednesday at

Oyster Bay officials began the event by recognizing sponsors Senator Carl L. Marcellino, Nassau Radiologic Group, and the . Dina Barone performed the National Anthem to start off the festivities.

‘It’s a nice way for the community to come together and enjoy the park,” said Councilwoman, Rebecca Alesia. “The best part for me is knowing people are joining together to enjoy the music."

The concert is one in a series held every summer for the last 24 years. 28 are being held this year to benefit the community and celebrate New York State’s decision to award the Syosset-Woodbury Community Park as the number one community park in the state.

“The community response is overwhelmingly positive,” said Deputy Commissioner, Patricia Becker. “It gives the community a chance to come out for an evening concert to enjoy some entertainment.”

The Town of Oyster Bay works all year round to set up these concerts by booking different acts, planning stage designs, and setting up crowd and parking control. “Supervisor John Venditto enjoys providing entertainment for the residents," Becker said.

The Broadway musical songs performed included Memory, Phantom, Jersey Boys, All That Jazz, A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, and, of course, West Side Story.

“I love it because we did a little bit of every famous show,” said performer Tara Khaler. “I love the variety. You get to play a little bit of every character.”

Residents in the crowd responded positively.

“Best park show I ever saw!” said resident Susan Jackson. “Fabulous performance, and a wonderful production and cast.”
