The 1973 stage show, written by Richard O'Brien and developed with Australian theater director Jim Sharman, was adapted into the 1975 cult film phenomenon The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It contains such memorable numbers as Dammit, Janet!”, “Sweet Transvestite,” "Time Warp” and "Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul.”

The latter was famously performed in the movie by Meat Loaf. The film starred Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as Brad and Janet and Tim Curry as the flamboyant, cross-dressing Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
