Major Storm Breaks Up Just in Time

Long Island spared serious wind and lightning damage as derecho breaks up.

Plainview and its surrounding communities got rained on but were spared the devastation that came in the path of a fierce storm that cut across New York State Thursday.

TODAY's 5:

1.The big storm system, known as a " Thursday night after causing widespread power outages along its path out of Western New York. Rain may linger into Friday morning. Then, Friday afternoon could see thunderstorms, forecasters said.
