Musical 'Hair' Brings Age of Aquarius to CAP

Ground-breaking musical to be performed weekends in Plainview through Aug. 5.

The spirit of the "Age of Aquarius" is reborn at the in Plainview, where the ground-breaking musical will be performed weekends through Aug 5.

With a book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot was a shocking product of the hippie counter-culture and sexual revolution of the 1960s. Several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement.

The musical broke new ground in musical theatre by defining the genre of "rock musical", using a racially integrated cast, and inviting the audience onstage for a "Be-In" finale.

The production is directed by Bruce Grossman with musical direction by Jon Riss.

The talented team at CAP is presenting the musical weekends through Aug. 5; Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 and Sunday's at 7 p.m., including tonight.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
