Plainview Churches to Hold Maundy Thursday Services

Holy Week events are scheduled all around town; see our guide.

Many Plainview churches hold Maundy Thursday services today leading into Easter weekend. Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus with his followers the night before His crucifixion.

1. The  holds its Maundy Thursday Service and Communion Thursday at 6:30 p.m.. The event is open to all. holds its service at 6;  has Holy Eucharist and a traditional foot washing at  7:30 p.m. Both Roman Catholic Churches have services today. 2. Federal parks like  are free to visit this week. The home of Theodore Roosevelt, known as the "Summer Whitehouse," is open from 9 a.m - 5 p.m. You can take the family on a guided tour of the 26th President's mansion, which still has original furnishings, hunting trophies and family photos. It's less than 30 minutes by car from Plainview.

3.  Adventureland Amusement Park, with rides, games, and food, is open for spring break week. The park is open from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Price: $21 for kids 4 feet and under, $25 for everyone taller.

4. East Rockaway comes to  at 10 a.m. today to take on the Hawks in varsity softball.
