Plainview's Y JCC to Host Author Ronald H. Balson

His self-published novel crosses 60 years, from the horrors of war-torn Poland to an American courtroom.

The Mid-Island Y JCC is hosting a meeting with Ronald H. Balson, author of "Once We Were Brothers," originally a self-published novel that is now a hit.

The author will appear at 10 a.m.Tuesday Nov. 12 at the Y, Manetto Hill Road at Washington Avenue in Plainview. The novel was first self-published but, because of reader response to it, is now out in book form from St. Martin's Press.

"Once We Were Brothers" is a story of two boys and a family who struggle to survive in war-torn Poland and a young love that incredibly survives the unspeakable cruelty of the Holocaust and the emotional scars left behind.

Two lives, two worlds and 60 years converge in an explosive race to redemption—this time in the courtroom, according to the promotional material for the novel.
