PTA Blood Drive at Middle School

Another day of delays anticipated on LIRR.

You can make a big difference in a person's life Thursday in less than an hour. The dedicated people at Plainview's PTA Council are hosting a blood drive today at the Plainview Old Bethpage Middle School and volunteers are needed.

1 The POB PTA Council's blood drive at the  runs from  3:30–9:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. For an appointment contact Colleen  @ 516-433-158.

2. , as of early Thursday morning, anticipated one more day of delays during its morning and evening commutes. Amtrak's repairs are continuing and the repaired track must be tested before service can return to normal, MTA said. Customers are urged to allow extra travel time and expect scattered 10- to 20- minute delays. Commuters should check the MTA's website for the latest information on delays and cancelations at www.mta.info.

3. In celebration of Yom HaAtzmaut (Israeli Independence Day,) presents "Impressions of Israel:  featuring artistic and creative images of the sights of Israel: the people, shopping, nature, foods, landscapes, buildings and more with personal commentaries from the artists themselves. This week-long event is free and open to the general public. Click of the exhibit in Plainview Patch.

4. Why not spend an afternoon playing table games with friends? There's Mah-jongg, bridge and canasta Thursday at the  from noon –4 p.m. Cost: $3; please bring your own set of cards. Tea and coffee to be served.
