Turf Field Ready; First Football Game on Field Friday
Lighting not quite ready; varsity football game moved to 4:30 p.m.
The first game on Plainview JFK's turf field was NOT played by the varsity football team.
Instead, it was a Girls Varsity Soccer game between Plainview and Long Beach which faced each other Thursday afternoon on the new turf field.
But the Hawks football team takes the field this afternoon at 4:30 in the inaugural football game on the field.
The lighting is not quite ready and is still being worked on. Still Friday's opener at the high school will take place at 4:30 p.m. against Hicksville, school officials said..
Here's Plainview JFK's varsity football schedule:
- Sept 12 @ 5:pm Farmingdale (Loss, 0-35; game played at P-OB Middle School.)
- Sept 20 @ 6:30 pm: Hicksville.*
- Sept. 28 @ 1:30 pm: at Hempstead.
- Oct. 5 @ 3 pm: at East Meadow.
- Oct. 11 @ 6:30 pm: Valley Stream Central*
- Oct. 19 @ 3 pm: Syosset*
- Oct. 26 @ 1:30 pm: at Massapequa
- Nov. 1 @ 6:30 pm: at Freeport
