After School Child Care for Children with Special Needs on Long Island

Some Group Child Care Options for Parents of Children With Special Needs on Long Island

One of our readers has requested information on after school Child Care programs.  Here is a list of some after school special needs child care offerings on Long Island:

Many families have been pleased with the pre-schools and the before and after school programs offered by the Jewish Community Centers of Long Island.  They accept children from every religion and warmly welcome children with special needs.  The spaces fill up fast so if you need one of their programs, now is the time to apply. If the JCC or YMCA or YWCA near you has no openings, you may consider asking their special needs director what other special needs child care they recommend.

My nephew has special needs. Can you suggest a day care in San Antonio for him? My sister found this day care: http://joylearningcenter.com/, what do you think? Thanks!

It is best to get several opinions. Your sister should find a service coordinator she trusts. Some organiZations that usually have knowledgeable people are The Arc of San Antonio http://arc-sa.org/, United Cerebral Palsy http://www.ucp.org/, and the University of TeXas.

The definition of STOP in the driving world is " the complete cessation of movement".Read More Sound like many people think STOP signs mean 1. Slow To Observe Police or 2. Slightly Touch On (brake) pedal. Time to go to traffic school online at www.oltep.com. Relearn what you forgot from Driver's Ed. Stay Safe

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
