Adding Trains: Helpful or Costly?

THe LIRR is boosting service in Hicksville in Bethpage. Is it a needed chage or too costly?

On Monday,  Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the Metropolitan Transportation  Authority is boosting service on the Long Island Rail ROad.

The changes will especially impact riders in Hicksville and Bethpage.  There will be in five new weekday trains, half-hourly weekend service to Ronkonkoma and Port Washington, and weekend service to Greenport for an additional 10 weeks.

But these changes come with a $2.6 million price tag.
