Buying Frenzy Getting Early Start Beginning Thursday Night

The traditional Black Friday holiday buying spree will begin in earnest on Thanksgiving night, with more and more retailers opening their stores in advance of midnight Friday.

Patch, with the help of About.com, has compiled a partial list of national chains and their scheduled opening times on Thanksgiving Day. Be aware, some store hours may vary for a variety of reasons:

Drug Stores:

  • CVS: Open Thursday, but hours vary. Use the CVS Store Locator.
  • Walgreens: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Big Box and Discount Stores:

  • Kmart  Open 6 a.m.; stores close at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Big Lots: 7 a.m.
  • Family Dollar : 8 a.m.
  • Sears : 8 p.m. overnight until 10 p.m. on Black Friday.
  • Wal-Mart : 8 p.m. and overnight until 10 p.m. on Black Friday
  • Target: 9-11 p.m., then re-open on Black Friday.
  • Macy's: Closed Thanksgiving. Opens at midnight Black Friday in some locations.

Retailers:

  • Aeropostale: 9 p.m.
  • American Eagle Outfitters: 9 p.m.
  • Ann Taylor: 9 p.m.
  • Banana Republic: 9 p.m.
  • Bass Shoes 9 p.m.
  • Bath & Body Works 9 p.m.
  • Gander Mountain: 9 a.m. Stores will be open until midnight on Thanksgiving Day, and then re-open again Black Friday morning.
  • Gap: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Old Navy: 9 a.m. 6 p.m.
  • Calvin Klein 9 p.m.
  • Champion: 9 p.m.
    Claire’s: 9 p.m.
  • Coldwater Creek: 9 p.m. 
  • Crabtree & Evelyn: 9 p.m. 
  • DKNY: 9 p.m.
  • Disney Stores: 9 p.m.
  • Dolce & Gabbana: 9 p.m. 
  • Godiva Chocolatier: 9 p.m.

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
