Memorial Day: What's Opened, Closed

Memorial Day is a federal holiday. Basically, the government and banks are closed; the stores are open.

Monday, May 30, is Memorial Day, a national holiday. Here's what's opened and closed:

Municipal, state, federal offices: Closed (no meetings; but national, state and local parks are open.) Post offices are closed; express delivery only. In the there is no garbage pickup. Collection is delayed by one day.

Schools: Closed.

Banks, Stock market and other financial institutions: Closed.

Retail stores: Most open.

Liquor stores, supermarkets and convenience stores: Many are open; some operate on limited hours.

Plainview Memorial Day Parade: The parade will divert traffic on Old Country Road, Manetto Hill Road and Washington Avenue beginning at 9:30 a.m. Monday for about 90 minutes.
