Somerset Gardens Collects Prom Dresses For Needy

The 18th annual Prom Boutique garnered 170 dresses and 50 pairs of shoes on Sunday.

All dresses and accessories collected on Sunday will be distributed free of charge to girls of families across Long Island who cannot easily absorb the expense of a new gown for their prom, awards ceremony, or graduation event.

High school guidance counselors, at-risk youth agencies, group homes, and church outreaches make the program available to their constituents.

More than 1,300 girls benefited in 2011 from 65 different schools and nonprofit youth organizations across Long Island.

I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
