Threat of Increased ATM Fees Not Welcome

Customers ponder the alternatives.

ATM withdrawals may soon cost as much as $5 each time you use a machine, and that's not sitting well with some Long Islanders.

Banks are looking into hiking fees on automatic teller machines for non-customers per transaction. Chase, for example, now charges $5 per transaction in Illinois, according to the Daily News, HSBC charges $3 per transaction and TD Bank charges $2.

ATM users may get hit up with more fees from their own bank for withdrawing from another bank’s machine.

While this trend has yet to hit New York, the idea of increased ATM fees does not sit well with customers in Nassau County. Here's what some had to say.
