Today's 5: Shopping Frenzy

It's among the biggest shopping days of the year; we'll have a report.

Black Friday is upon us and the holiday shopping frenzy is upon us. Some people started early and big retailers accomodated them, opening their stores early Friday.

Each day the "5 Things" column offers five essentials about your day in Plainview. We want to engage our audience in the topics, events, and hot-button issues that are important to them. Help us do that by adding your voice. Add it to the calendar or send us a .

1. Many big stores began the traditional "Black Friday" a little early. We'll have a video report later today about the shopping frenzy at area malls. And, see our that had people rushing out to shop early Friday morning.

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
