It’s the final weekend of August and we’ve come up with ideas to help you get out and enjoy the final days of summer. Note: keep an eye on weather reports for cancellations.

          1.       New York, New York

Where/When: Heckscher Museum of Art, 2 Prime Ave., Huntington, 631-351-3250, heckscher.org., daily during museum hours through Oct. 16

Why Go: See the exhibition that commemorates the 10th anniversary of Sept 11th which features images of architectural landmarks and of daily life in the city’s many neighborhoods, with such artists as Berenice Abbott, Gordon Grant, John Sloan and more.

Pricing: $8.00, seniors $6.00

          2.       Comedy for a Cause

Where/When: Holiday Inn of Westbury, 369 Old Country Rd.,  Carl Place, 516-232-3222, comedytogoinc.com., Saturday August 27 @ 7 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a night of standup comedy with Fred Rubino and others. Reserve, proceeds will benefit the hungry in the community.

Pricing: free but please donate a non-perishable food item

         3.       Long Island Scottish Festival and Highland Games

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd,  Old Westbury, 516-333-0048, liscots.org., Saturday, August 27 @ 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a day of bagpipe music, dancing, singing and Celtic vendors and Scottish food. There will be games and events for children.

Pricing: $15 adults, $10 seniors, $5 children

        4.       Nassau County Craft and Gift Show

Where/When: Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, 516-442-6000, nassaucountycraftshows.com., Saturday and Sunday August 27 & 28 @ 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Why Go: A variety of goods, created by local craftsman and artists will be featured.

      5.       Shenole Latimer

Where/When: Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, 1395 Planting Fields Rd., Oyster Bay, 516-922-8600,  plantingfileds.org., Friday August 26 @ 6 p.m.

Why Go: Hear modern jazz ensemble by Shenole Latimer in concert
