Plainview Firefighters Knock Down Car Fire on Woodbury Road

A responding medic, first on the scene, put down the flames with an extinguisher.

A responding medic with the Plainview Fire Department knocked down a late-afternoon car fire, containing it until firefighters could finish the job, firefighters said.

Plainview firefighters were called to the report of an auto accident about 4 p.m. at the intersection of Woodbury Road and West Gate. Plainview's Medic car was first on the scene and the medic used a dry chemical extinguisher to keep the flames at bay. Plainview firefighters arrived and hosed it down.

The crash took place near the entrance to the Plainview Centre on Woodbury Road, just east of South Oyster Bay Road and across from Starbucks.

The passengers involved in the crash refused medical attention at the scene, firefighters said.
