Plainview Memorial Day Guide

The parade forms at 9 a.m. and steps off at 9:30 a.m. The route is the usual one, with a solemn ceremony to follow at the park

Plainview's Honors the memory of fallen veterans today with its annual Memorial Day Parade Monday morning.

Good weather is forecast for the on Old Country Road at Pasadena Drive. Marchers assemble in the area at 9 a.m. The route is a familiar one.

The parade steps off east past the fire headquarters and the Morton Village Shopping Center to Manetto Hill Road. The parade turns north there to Washington Avenue, where it proceeds east to the . A solemn memorial service follows at the park.

There are many good places to watch the parade, including the firehouse, area, Morton Village and the , the corner of Manetto Hill and Old County roads, the Y-JCC and , and near the entrance of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park.

Plainview Patch will provide live coverage of the parade and ceremony this afternoon.

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
