Plainview Groups Lose Non-Profit Status

Prior to a 2006 federal law change, non-profits bringing in less than $25,000 in annual revenue were not required to file returns with the IRS. Under the new Pension Protection Act all nonprofits are required to file, although many smaller organizations may have missed the notice because it was ensconced in a large tome on pension issues, according to a report by the New York Times. 

The IRS believes that a majority of the affected organizations are defunct and said that many could not be reached, but offers non-profit reinstatement instructions in the case that an organization is still alive and kicking.

The following is a list of Plainview-Old Bethpage non-profits that lost their tax-exempt status on Wednesday:
