Question of the Day: College Tuition

U.S. tuition increase rates still outpace inflation rates, though at a slightly slower clip. Is the crushing debt worth it?

Colleges are still asking for more for a four-year degree than the majority of Americans can afford, at an average of around $27,000 per year.

The good news is tution increase rates have slowed down from an average of a 6 percent increase annual increase in 2008 to a 4.6 percent annual increase in 2011. The bad news is it's still too much. And the ambiguous news is that student aid packages have increased, which may be secret code for "huge debt."

Our question for Saturday is: How much is too much to pay for college? Is a college degree from a prestigous school worth it if a student graduates with a crushing debt load?
